The Artificer Apprentice(AA) :- As an Artificer Apprentice, you will take the best technical training to hold very responsible positions as a sailor in the Indian Navy.The job specification of an artificer (as per specialization) includes working in:
Steam powered machinery
Diesel and gas turbines
Guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapons
sensor avionic equipment
Computer and highly advanced radio
Electrical power systems.
The SSR ( Senior Secondary Recruit):- As a SSR, you will be a part of a highly technical organization and you will be able to serve in powerful & modern ships. As a SSR in the Indian Navy, is a part of works on ship including:
Aircraft Carriers
Guided-missile destroyers
Frigates
Replenishment ships
Submarines
SSR work on a variety of teams with different responsibilities related to caring ships, operating machinery like RADAR and executing military missions. Some branches are: Seamen, Engineering, Communication, Electrical, Logistical, Medical.

About Indian Navy AA/SSR & MR Exam:- The Indian Navy AA/ SSR Exam is held by the Indian Navy twice a year to recruit Sailors for the Indian Navy. From Technical and non technical background, this exam gives excellent opportunities to candidates to join the Indian Navy. Candidates who want to join the Indian Navy and serve the nation, the Indian Navy recruit the candidates on the basis of matric and secondary level through this exam as a sailor. The selection process of Indian Navy AA/SSR & MR Exam are divided into three phase:
Computer based/ Written Test Exam
Physical Fitness Test
Medical Standard Test
The Computer based/ Written Test Exam of Navy AA/SSR are on +2 level exams and consist of four sections:
English
General Knowledge
Mathematics
Science
& The Navy MR Exam is based on 10th level which is only includes:
Mathematics
Science
General Awareness
The Physical Fitness Test will be conducted on the same day of the written exam. The duration of the written exam is only 1 hour. This exam consists of objective type questions in bilingual( English & Hindi).
Eligibility Criteria of the Indian Navy AA/SSR & MR Exam:-
Indian Navy AA/SSR & MR eligibility criteria is defined in the following parameters:
Nationality- The Indian Candidates can apply for this exam.
Age Limit - The candidate should be 17 to 20 years on the day of enrollment.
Qualification-The candidate must have completed +2 exams with 60% or more marks in total with Mathematics, Physics, or at least one of these subjects – Chemistry, biology, & Computer Science.& for Navy MR exam candidates must have passed matriculation from the board of education recognized by MHRD & Govt. of India.
Gender and Marital Test- Only Unmarried male candidates
Physical fitness test- The eligibility of the candidate for physical fitness is measured as per height, weight and medical standard.
